Acceptable Use Policy

This policy is part of the API Terms of Use. It lists what you may not do with the Cinema Watch API, so it stays fast and fair for everyone.

Last updated: October 7, 2026

1. Do not

  • Break the law, or infringe anyone's copyright, trademarks or other rights.
  • Try to get around rate limits or quotas, for example by spreading requests across extra accounts or keys.
  • Download the database in bulk, for example by paging through every title, or use the data to build a competing database, dataset or API.
  • Resell, sublicense or redistribute the data, or access to the API, on its own.
  • Use the data to train or fine-tune machine-learning models, unless we agree in writing.
  • Share, publish or sell your API keys, or embed them where others can read them.
  • Probe, scan or test the API for vulnerabilities, or interfere with or overload it. If you find a security problem, please report it to hello@cinema-watch.com.
  • Send malicious input, or personal data the API does not need, in requests.
  • Use the API in an app that harasses people, spreads malware or spam, or misleads users about who you are or where the data comes from.

2. Please do

  • Cache responses sensibly instead of repeating identical requests.
  • Back off when you get a 429, waiting for the number of seconds in the Retry-After header.
  • Credit Cinema Watch as the source of the data where your users can see it.

3. Enforcement

If we think you are breaking this policy, we may limit, suspend or revoke your keys or access, as described in the API Terms of Use. Where we can, we will contact you first.

4. Questions and reports
