API Privacy Notice

This notice explains what we collect when you use the Cinema Watch API and this developer dashboard. It adds to our main Privacy Policy.

Last updated: October 7, 2026

1. What this covers

You sign in here with your Cinema Watch account, so the Cinema Watch Privacy Policy applies to your account, including how we handle your email address, password and profile, who we share data with, and your rights. This notice covers what is specific to the API.

2. What we collect

  • API keys: each key's name, expiry, status and a short hint of the key. We store the key itself only as a one-way hash, so we cannot read it.
  • Request logs: for every request made with one of your keys, the time, the key, the method and path, query parameters, the response status and body, how long it took, and the caller's IP address, user agent, referrer and language headers.
  • Usage counters: how many requests your account makes per minute and per month, to apply your plan's limits.
  • Plan: which plan your account is on.

Request logs can contain information about the people using your app, such as their IP address, if your app calls the API from their device or passes it on. Do not send us personal information in API requests that the API does not need.

3. How we use it

  • To authenticate requests and apply rate limits and quotas.
  • To show you your usage, request logs and analytics in the dashboard, and to let you export them.
  • To run, secure and debug the API and to detect and stop abuse.
  • To publish overall service health on the status page. That page shows only totals across all users, never your requests or keys.

4. Who can see it

Your keys, logs and usage are visible to you when signed in, and to the people who run Cinema Watch when needed to operate the service. They are stored with our database provider as described in the main Privacy Policy. We do not sell them.

5. How long we keep it

Usage analytics in the dashboard cover the last 90 days. We may delete request logs older than 90 days. Logs of keys you delete are hidden from your dashboard. If you ask us to delete your account, we delete or anonymise your keys, logs and usage records with the rest of your account, except where we must keep something by law.

6. Your choices

You can delete keys at any time from the dashboard, and export your request logs as CSV from the Usage page. For anything else, including access and deletion requests, email hello@cinema-watch.com.

7. Changes

We will post any changes here with a new “last updated” date and, for significant changes, tell you by email or in the dashboard.
